with Kaleidoscope Irish Dance & Movement Studio

For ages 4-12, with a caregiver.

Get ready to move! Join us for a lively morning of traditional Irish social dancing, called a céilí (pronounced kay-lee) for families and children ages 4–12. Whether your child has rhythm to spare or has never stepped onto a dance floor before, there’s a place in our dance circle for them!

At Kaleidoscope, we believe that moving together is the best way to have fun together! Come burn some energy through dancing and laughter, and experience some of the warmth of Irish tradition in your local library branch!

About Marjorie & Kaleidoscope Irish Dance & Movement Studio:
Marjorie Hopkins is a dance educator, historian, and storyteller who brings Irish cultural traditions to life. With a PhD in History and an MA in Irish Dance Studies, she explores how dance was woven into the fabric of everyday Irish life, celebrated in kitchens, at crossroads, and during community gatherings, long before it reached competitive or commercial stages.

As founder of Kaleidoscope Irish Dance & Movement Studio, Marjorie believes that understanding the stories behind the steps, such as who created them, where they lived, and their place in the history of Irish dance, deepens our appreciation for this living tradition. It’s more than just the steps!

Marjorie combines her diverse background in history, theatre, student development, and Irish dance to create programmes that celebrate cultural heritage and the joy of movement. Her commitment is to grow a thriving step-dancing community here in Kitchener-Waterloo, carrying the past forward to a new generation of dancers.
